Just picked up a 14 inch round acrylic plate for underneath the tray to clip on. It’s so bright, I also added thermal liner to protect my eyes and my cats eyes!
I tried a couple other clip on brands and sent them back. They were junk. This is exactly what I was looking for. Real led grow lights for a small footprint without a grow tent, and the extra bonus of clip on.
I also like that it doesn’t have the built in timer that the other junk ones come with (which have reviews of them breaking anyway). Added a mechanical timer which is much more reliable Found a 2-pack that’s a best seller and cheap. Since I used the daisy chain, one of them is a spare. Completed the setup with a nice 6-speed grow fan since I expect it will run 24x7.
Only complaint is the gooseneck is a bit short. I will need more height soon. Hopefully, the company will add extensions to their store! I’ll update my review if I hear back from them.
The lamp is powerful and provides a lot of light, so you do need to be aware of that when deciding where and how to deploy it. I was really drawn to the clamp-style attachment as it made it easy to attach it to the shelf edge vs. having to rely on sticking it in one of the pots.
The clamp has a very strong spring and padded jaws so it will hold its grip without marring the surface. The flexible neck can be bent to position the light as needed and has a nice height to it while remaining stable with the light end screwed on the end.
The LEDs are bare though which surprised me a little, so you need to make sure there's some space/distance between them and the nearest plant as they will put out a little heat.
The power cord is nice and long and has a simple button on-off switch and it pairs perfectly with a smart plug so I can set the time of day for it to be on/off and run on a regular schedule.
I'm very impressed with the output and capability of this unit.
